A message from the ghostly lost fleet from somewhere in the Pacific.

We are on the verge of being accepted as locals at Greenwell Point. Newspapers are kept for us and most of all, we have been asked if we want “the usual” at the pub—now that is really being a local.

In arranging a bowling match I was able to say that we had a championship bowler in our midst from a big club in Sydney. It was Richard Meuthen who won the bowling at Dangar Island so he met the classification—good thing they didn’t question him about the championship or indeed the type of big Sydney Club to which he belonged.

Life here in the river is really tough. But things are happening all the time. Every six hours or so the tide changes and in the evenings it gets dark. Best of all we are all enjoying it. The oysters here are superb and the lobster eaters swear by their mornays.

There was a major expedition to Nowra by bus last Friday for a good day out (the buses do not run on the weekend).

The weather? The boats? Going home? Who cares? We know when we are happy.

More seriously.

A couple of boats have had anchor problems—possibly they do not have enough use in the Hawkesbury and we are all very careful of water usage. We will leave tomorrow morning (Tuesday) and return to Pittwater either late that day, or on Wednesday.
